Jonathan Dreyfous Speaking at Center For Architecture

He will be presenting our Marine Company 1 Firehouse which was selected as a winner in this year's AIANY Design Awards.  As part of the panel, Jon and eight other speakers will be presenting projects recently recognized by the AIA New York Chapter's annual design awards. Audi Fletcher Jones Showroom Opens in Chicago

Audi Fletcher Jones in Chicago is a conversion of three separate buildings into one multi - level brand statement. The project consists of a total structural overhaul, demolition of demising walls to unify the showroom spaces and a re-cladding of the street frontage.  view full article

Clear connection from the service write-up zone directs the customer into the Audi space. The atmosphere and detailing foreground the cars on display to create a clear organization of the facilities' processes.

CDR Studio Adopts the 2030 Architecture Challenge

CDR Studio has adopted the 2030 Challenge, an initiative promoted by Architecture 2030 to reduce the reliance of the global architecture and building community on fossil fuels.

It is estimated that by 2035 nearly 75% of the built environment will be new or renovated, leading to tremendous opportunities within the architecture and building community to reduce fossil fuel consumption and green house gas emissions.  view full article

The standard actively promotes implementation of sustainable design strategies and on-site renewables to gradually increase the fossil fuel reduction standard for all new buildings and major renovations over the next 20 years leading to a carbon neutral consumption standard by the year 2030. MC 1 Firehouse Wins AIA NY Design Award in Unbuilt Project Category

The awards seek to regognize "outstanding architectural design by New York City architects and also honor exemplary work in New York City done by architects from around the globe." This is the eigth time CDR Studio's work has been recognized by our peers in the design awards and we are honored by the selection. The 2011 Design Awards Exhibition is on view at the Center for Architecture from April 14 - June 25th.

Bidding Begins for East Village Triplex

Bidding has begun for CDR Studio's new triplex renovation in Manhattan's East Village. With small "tree house" floor plates, the project focuses on re-configuring an existing stair to link living space across three levels and a major expansion of the existing kitchen.  view full article

With a fast-track schedule, work for the project is expected to commence this Spring with completion scheduled for September.

Relocation of the PJ Sharp Boathouse

CDR Studio Architects is working with Mathews Nielson Landscape Architects on a study for the New York Restoration Project to determine possible options for the Relocation of the PJ Sharp Boathouse.  view full article

The boathouse, designed by Robert AM Stern and put into the Sherman Creek area of the Harlem River in 2005 presents many challenges in the present location. One option looks at lifting it and relocating it to nearby land.

Audi Westmont Showroom Opens in Illinois

Audi Westmont is a conversion of an existing car dealership facility into an Audi Exclusive Terminal. Although originally a neutral proposal was offered, dealer-driven real estate acquisition during the project lifespan enabled Terminal implementation as well as exterior vehicle display.  view full article

The project consists of the re-organisation of interior spaces and adjustments to the building footprint in order to allow for a prominent roadside car presentation presence. Existing structure was maintained and service write-up was relocated from the reception driveway into the showroom space, creating a clear organisation of the facilities' processes.

Pier 62 Carousel Building Featured in the Article “ On the New Waterfront” in Landscape Architecture Magazine

CDR Studio's Pier 62 Carousel Building is featured in Alex Ulam's article "On the New Waterfront" published this November in Landscape Architecture Magazine. The article traces the recent redevelopment of New York City's Hudson River Park by landscape architect Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates and other leading architects including CDR Studio.  view full article

Located between the West Side Highway and the Hudson River, the article notes that the waterfront project is considered "Manhattan's most significant new park since Central Park was building in the 19th Century." It focuses primarily on the recently opened Chelsea Cove, an eight-acre section of the project located between Pier 62 and Pier 64, which includes our new carousel building and other notable public works.

CDR Studio Architects was invited to showcase three projects including our Pier 62 Carousel Building, The Hillsdale Residence, and Marine Company 1 Fire House in a subway exhibition curated by the AIA New York Chapter / Center For Architecture.  view full article
